Yesterday marked the 30th anniversary of Return of the Jedi. There was a Night Line segment with Ted Koppel that aired at the time that featured NY film critic John Simon and critics Siskel and Ebert. Mr. Simon HATED Jedi while Siskel and Ebert defended the film's merits. Simon went on to describe Jedi as a film about "whirlygigs" and declared that a better film for children is "Tender Mercies." Has to be seen to be believed.
